Ask me how often I, as a professional coder, solve something I've never solved before. The answer is almost never. And when I do I ask Claude/Gemini to get me started.
I've been playing with Lovable / Bolt a lot lately. The designs they make are... nice. Nicer than what I would have made (I'm not a designer) but they always follow the same template. For a basic website there's no way I wouldn't start with AI and I expect it to just get better and better. It won't replace coders overnight but I will be surprised if humans are writing any code at all in 10 years.
Deepseek was trained with Nvidia H800 which is a chip made specifically for the Chinese market to avoid export restrictions. Is it a fancy chip? Arguably.
It feels like we need to decide what exactly we're talking about first and give it a definition. Because nobody else mentioned "conciseness". That's your special word.
Except maybe they don't. For example I haven't done long division on paper in decades. Not knowing how to do it wouldn't affect anyone who has access to a calculator.
Well no, POTUS doesn't need to be the smartest in the room but he needs to be smart enough to recognize and assess threats. Relying on someone else to do that for you is problematic.
I feel like the AI arms race was always going to put US and China at odds. Yes it's clear that Trump is not the guy you'd want to steer you through this but I'm not sure who that person is.
